Tomorrow we start our workshops. I'm in a group of eight, each of us with a chapter from a novel. These workshops are always interesting, sometimes emotional. Not that anyone freaks out right then and there (not that I've seen anyway) but it always takes writers a while to digest the emotions of having one's work chopped, diced and dissected--usually kindly but not always. Last time, I made the mistake of going into the workshop with a piece that I was pretty attached to--I had worked hard on it and had received several compliments from fellow students. The two faculty who led my workshop, however, were not so enamoured with my story. It took me a full 24 hours to get over it before I could see that they were...absolutely correct (darn them!).

I'm not up until the day after tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

Dang! You are a blogging machine! Well... my, my, my. Your Victor is a handsome guy! ;o) Oh... and I'm sure very talented and wise.

It all sounds very thrilling, and I'm looking forward to seeing how your critique goes.

So. While you are sweating over the books, try to find a little mental space to consider a 1/2 marathon in October. Deanna, Lynn, Eileen and I went to there opening training run (where we did not run) but we got a fabulous pair of $23 flip flops as a gift, along with a training journal. If the training journal will tip the scale for you, I'd be happy to donate mine! E and I stayed for the free pedicure as well. It's a rough life!

Happy writing and reading!

Dana! I kid you not, I'm posting a lot because I remembered you telling me that you read my LAST blog. It heartened me to writing more. Today was a full-blast day. I left my room at 7:30 AM and just got in at 10 PM. But I will not let you down. I will post before the night is throught. Keep commenting as you have time. Or email me. It's really nice to hear voices from "home" in this wonderful but foreign land.

this I love about Dana Lundblad--how (my) grammatical and spelling lapses make her chuckle. See? I knew you would notice and wonder, then laugh in that good-humored way of yours.
